A working house for rare stones.

Three offices. One standard. Three generations in the trade.

Rooted in Namak Mandi

Precision Gems and Minerals was founded in Peshawar's Namak Mandi — arguably the oldest continuously-operating rare-gem market in the Hindu Kush. Our principal office sits in the heart of it, opposite the traders who have known my family for three generations.

From that base, we source rough material from the northern valleys of Pakistan, the marble-hosted deposits of eastern Afghanistan, and occasionally from Burmese and Sri Lankan supply when provenance can be properly documented. Material is cleaned, graded, sent out for cutting where needed, and — if it passes our own examination — released, piece by piece, into the catalog you see here.

Three offices, one standard

Our Bangkok office, on Silom Road, handles the Asian trade and serves as our photography and certification liaison point. Our Toronto office serves North American clients and manages shipping-related logistics for that market. Our Peshawar office remains the house.

The standard is the same in each: independent examination, disclosure of treatment status, and careful photography in controlled light. Where an independent lab report is available, it is attached. Where a stone is uncertified, we state so plainly, and we do not invent credentials we do not hold.

What we do not do

We do not chase carat weight at the expense of color. We do not sell synthetic or lab-grown material as natural. We do not trade in stones whose provenance cannot be documented to our satisfaction. We do not sell to buyers who ask us to skip those checks.

What we care about

The geological record. The way light moves inside a well-cut stone. The responsibility that comes with handling material that the earth took millions of years to make. The people who buy from us — collectors, jewelers, curators — and the pieces they build their collections around.
